I think that I have had a passion for the Word of God since I first heard it.  As a child, attending church with my grandmother, I somehow knew that there was something there for me.  As a youth, attending church with my     younger siblings, not really knowing what it was all about, I knew that I belonged there.  That passion for the Word has never waned.

It took me until well into adulthood to realize just what John 1:1 was saying.  “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”  Then, when I added John 1:14 to it, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” I was awestruck.  “THIS IS TALKING ABOUT JESUS!  So, this is saying that the Word, God, and Jesus are all the same!  Wow!  Why haven’t I seen this before?!”  I felt that I had made a discovery worthy of being awarded a Nobel Prize!  I wanted to tell everybody!  For a time, I attempted to.  Whenever I found an opening in a conversation, I would ask, “Did you know that The Word, God and Jesus are one and the same?”  Some would look at me as if to say, “And . . .?”  Others would simply say, “Okay.”  I would proceed to either read or recite John 1:1, 14 – that is, if they had not already walked away.

 

Through various experiences over the years, I made another great discovery – that within the Word of God – the Holy Bible – is the answer to my every need!  Whether great or small, it’s in there!  Everything you need is in there as well.

 

The POWER you need is in the Word.  “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12 KJV)

 

The LIFE you need is in His Word.  “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”  (John 6:63 NKJV)

 

The LIFE CHANGES you need are in His Word.  “You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.” (John 15:3 NKJV)

 

In times of sickness or disease, the HEALING you need is in the Word.  “He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.”  (Psalm 107:20 NKJV)

 

In times of darkness, the Word is your LIGHT.  “The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.” (Psalm 119:130 NKJV)

 

In times of war, the Word is your WEAPON.  “Therefore thus says the LORD God of hosts: ‘Because you speak this word, Behold, I will make My words in your mouth fire, And this people wood, And it shall devour them.” (Jeremiah 5:14 NKJV)

 

The best thing is, the Word of God will be here for you FOREVER!  “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” (Matthew 24:35 NKJV)

 

The Bible is my Instruction Book!  I would not try to live my life without it.  “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.” (Joshua 1:8 NLT)
